We frequently get asked questions like this: "Why does my webcam show up as San Rafael instead of Mazatlan?"
Because we use reverse geocoding to get the name of the city the webcam is located in, it can happen that the name of the city (listed below the title of the webcam) is wrong or not very accurate. E.g. if the neighboring city is geographically closer than the city the webcam is really located in, it results in a wrong city name for this webcam.
Reverse geocoding means that we use the coordinates of the webcam to search for the closest city near these coordinates. This reverse geocoding is done automatically after adding a webcam.
In the case a wrong city name has been assigned to your webcam, please drop us an email so we can correct the city name manually.
